Monexa Directors and Officers

Kelly Edmison, Chairman of the Board

Kelly Edmison PhotoKelly brings a wealth of business skills, experience and contacts to Monexa. An active member of the Vancouver technology market for the past decade, Kelly has practiced law for over 20 years, spending his early career in Calgary and Hong Kong before joining Ladner Downs (now Borden Ladner Gervais) in 1985 where he practiced securities and commercial law for ten years.

Upon leaving Ladner Downs, Kelly established his own practice focused exclusively on representing Vancouver-based junior technology companies and within five years, the companies he represented closed over forty financings raising aggregate proceeds in excess of $200,000,000. Kelly has also been a director of many public companies including eDispatch.com Wireless Data Inc. (TSX: IQ) and Carmanah Technologies Corporation (TSX:-V CMH) as well as serving as Secretary for ALI Technologies Inc. (formerly TSE: ALT) and a number of other high profile venture capital-financed companies.

Kelly is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Pender Financial, President of PenderFund Capital Management and is a Director of Pender Growth Fund (VCC) Inc.


K.G. Rasmussen, Director

Garry Rasmussen PhotoMr. Rasmussen is a partner in Ansera Ventures Ltd., an investment firm focusing on technology based companies and is currently the President and CEO of Cengea Solutions Inc. a firm specializing in providing spatially enabled solutions to the Forestry and Agricultural industries.

He is the former President of TELUS International, a subsidiary of TELUS Communication Inc. that offers information technology services outside of Canada. Prior to that, Garry was the founding President and CEO of Information Systems Management BC Corporation (ISM-BC), which, when acquired by TELUS, was Western Canada's largest full service information technology firm operating across Canada and in Asia and Latin America. At its peak following the acquisition, ISM-BC had more than 3000 employees and $500 million (CDN) in revenue.

Prior to joining ISM-BC, Garry worked in the financial services industry, first as a chief administrative officer at Merrill Lynch Canada for over five years, and later as a consultant for various financial institutions. Prior to entering the financial services industry, Garry had a successful career with IBM Canada in a variety of systems, engineering, and management positions, leading to his final position as IBM Canada's Director of Information Systems.

Garry has a degree in Civil Engineering from Carleton University.


Penny Wilson, Director

Penny Wilson PhotoPenny Wilson is a senior marketing and operations executive with over 25 years of international experience in the technology industry. She most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer for Juniper Networks. At Juniper, Wilson's focus was on developing the company’s first cross portfolio solutions, establishing clear customer value propositions and a consistent global brand.

Prior to Juniper, she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Macromedia Inc. In that role, she led the company's worldwide marketing efforts leading up to and through the successful acquisition by Adobe Systems Inc. in December 2005. Wilson joined Macromedia in 2000 and served as senior vice president in several assignments that included: Industry Solutions, where she spearheaded the company's vertical market strategy; Customer and Corporate Marketing, where she executed the launch of the MX-series product line; and Marketing and Production, Shockwave.com, where she was responsible for building the online entertainment portal.

Prior to joining Macromedia, Wilson served as president and chief operating officer of ExtendMedia, Inc., a digital media services company serving the broadcast and telecommunications industries. Wilson also served, first as Vice President Marketing and Operations, and then as President of Alias/Wavefront, Inc., an innovator in 3D graphics technology. She started her career at Merrill Lynch International, where she held various positions during her 10-year tenure, including Vice president Global Information Systems. Wilson holds an honors bachelor of science degree in computer science and business administration from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.


Garth Albright, Director

Garth Albright PhotoGarth has over 30 years of corporate leadership experience as a finance executive in both public and private companies. He joined Gemcom Software International Inc. as Chief Financial Officer in 2003. At Gemcom he was part of the executive team that transformed the near-insolvent company into a profitable venture that achieved CAGR revenue growth of 36% from 2003 to 2009. Gemcom was acquired for $189 million in an all-cash transaction in July 2008. Garth was responsible for financial reporting, accounting, regulatory compliance, equity capital markets, investor relations, IT operations and legal matters. Garth also led the legal, due diligence and post-implementation elements of all of Gemcom’s M&A transactions. He is a certified management accountant and a director of the B.C. Technology Industry Association.

Before joining Gemcom, Garth gained wide experience in different industries as the Chief Financial Officer of Waterfront Pictures Inc., Peace Arch Entertainment Ltd. and Cannect Communications Inc.


John Jacobson, President & CEO, Director

John Jacobson PhotoJohn Jacobson has more than twenty years of experience as an entrepreneur and business leader at a number of technology product and service companies. He has an Honours BSc in Chemistry and Physics and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia.

Before joining Monexa, John was President and Chief Executive Officer of Offshore Systems International Ltd. During his seven years at OSI, he built the company into the global leader in electronic navigation displays for navy vessels by partnering with some of the world’s largest aerospace and defense companies.

From 1988 to 1996 John worked with MacDonald Dettweiler and Associates Ltd. as a Project Manager, Director of Engineering Services and Administration, Business Manager for Aeronautical Information Systems, and ultimately as the Chief Operating Officer of the PSC Group subsidiary. When the PSC Group was spun out as an independent company in 1996 he continued as its President. Under his leadership, PSC Group became Geotrain Corporation, the world’s largest outsourced training partner for Cisco Systems, with operations on three continents.
